Client Feature – Freedom Furniture

Did you know that Freedom Furniture has been under new management for almost 1 year now? Val O’Neil, who had worked her way up in the company jumped at the chance to become the new business owner in August last year. Freedom Furniture is the place to go if you are looking for any homeware, as they have a huge range to choose from and wonderful, knowledgeable staff to help (Katryna loves the few pieces she has found for her home). Another thing we love is that Freedom has New Zealand-made sofas and dining furniture, and sofas you can customize to fit your home. Make sure to call in the next time you are hunting for a bargain or just go out window shopping.

Updated Website FAQs

Have you noticed we updated our Frequently Asked Questions section of the website? Go check it out while you’re here! With a fresh new look, we have also clarified the questions that are always popping up. If you have a question, you think we should have covered that isn’t there, let us know! Or if reading isn’t your thing, head to our Facebook or Instagram pages, as we have been covering our FAQs in the Tuesday and Thursday tips. These have all the info you need bullet-pointed and make for a quick read.

Xero Tip – Customizing Templates for Invoices

Xero Invoices, do you use them? Have you been customizing them and taking advantage of the templates you can create specifically for your business needs? If not, then this is for you! In the top left click your Xero name and select settings from the drop-down menu.

From here, select Invoice Settings at the top of the right column. In this screen, you will see a button with ‘New Branding Theme’, select this and

from here you can customize a template for your invoices. There is no limit to the number of templates you can have, there is also a preview option once you have finished customizing the invoice, and you can always edit them later if it isn’t quite right.

Public Holiday - King’s Birthday next month

The King had his coronation earlier this month, thus we no longer have Queen’s Birthday, it is the King’s Birthday in two weeks. The new public holiday comes with all the usual regulations, we know we keep going on about public holidays, but they are always a hot topic.

Yes, most of us will get a long weekend, but for those who must work, you are entitled to time and a half for the hours you work and a day-in-lieu (this is equal to the hours you would normally work on that day, no matter how many hours you actually work). However, if this is not your normal day of work, you are not entitled to the day-in-lieu.

If you have any questions about public holidays and how they work, send us a message!

What have we been up to?

You may be wondering what we have been up to with our short newsletters lately, well we have been busy finishing the last few 2022 returns and implementing some new processes for the 2023 returns that are starting to come in. We appreciate your understanding with Shelley being so unwell over the last year, but she is back at full capacity and ready to get back on top of the workload.

The new processes we have been working on for your 2023 returns will mean that there will be a 6-week turnaround once we have all your documents in. There may be a few exceptions for the key reason of minimizing your taxes, but we will let you know if this is what we intend to do for you.

We are also asking that all who have Xero start to make use of your Xero Files. Having a digital version of your records makes it quicker for us to work on your accounts, meaning you get them back quicker. If you are unsure how to use your Xero Files, please contact us so we can talk you through it. It is super easy to use and the clients that are making use of this feature love it.

P.S. Have you seen our Ad on Mad Media's digital billboard on the New Plymouth Club's sign on Molesworth Street?
